A Savonius style rotor was chosen as its blade form factor allows for large surface area solar panels. Flexible, reasonably priced, and common CIGS photovoltaic panels cleanly adhere to the curved blade contours. First level calculations were completed on expected power output. The turbine and panels are sized for residential or small commercial use. The design is easy to manufacture and can be easily assembled on site which reduce purchase price and installation cost, accelerating the consumers return on investment.
